About Tim
I like to meet people where they're at. If you are reading this, I think that we could both agree we both have an affinity for this beautiful instrument. I'd love the opportunity to help you explore where you musically wanna go and what inspires you and get you there together. Remember you can do this!
An accomplished musician, songwriter, composer and live performer, Tim Beckage lives music and sees in sound. His musical philosophy is rooted in doing things "the old way", preferring 8 track to digital, and utilizing an array of innovative techniques to create the optimum experience through sound.
In 2007, at the age of 16, Tim co-founded critically acclaimed blues/rock trio Dealer in Wares. The band played hundreds of shows throughout Pennsylvania and opened for several national acts including Rock and Roll Hall of Fame drummer of the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd, Artimus Pyle, Rebbie Jackson, The Winstons, Sheryl Felton, the Temptations, and Marshall Tucker. The band has won multiple awards including Keystone College's Battle of the Bands, Electric City Weekly's Best Original Band of 2008 and the Get Your Vote On contest that secured the band a place performing at the Dewey Beach Music Conference.
Since then, Tim has worked on rich and varied musical projects and wrote, recorded, and performed songs with an array of notable artists, including experimental funk/band Messiah Trap, and folk singer Tina Graye.
In 2021, Tim made his debut into film scores when producer Luz Cabrales invited him to join the production of PAlette: Exploring the Colors of Pennsylvania, a children's TV series which explores art and encourages creativity. In 2022, Tim composed the score for Scranton's Championship Season, a documentary celebrating the 40th anniversary of the filming and release of Jason Miller's 1982 film, That Championship Season. The documentary was created by local producer Robert Savakinus in collaboration with filmmaker Luz Cabrales of Scranton Films. Additionally, Tim's work can be heard in the WVIA Short Takes, The Real Dunder Mifflin: Pennsylvania Paper & Supply.

Always remaining a student is a founding philosophy to my playing and is what keeps the instrument alive. I say all that because I'm not a fan of "the expert" mentality. I've found that's what actually intimidates people from experiencing the gift of music. Music is a language that everyone speaks differently yet does have a technical basis. However, this basis is not the end all be all. As a student of mine, I also remain a student constantly refining, and developing my methods and encouraging you to do the same for your own musical likeness. So let's study together.
