About Bryce

Bryce Hughes (2004) is a percussionist, composer, and music educator from Whiteland, Indiana. Throughout his time as a performer, Bryce has performed with the University Of Indianapolis Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Jazz Ensembles, and Percussion Ensemble. He has also performed with various community bands around Indianapolis. He was also a winner of the University of Indianapolis Concerto Competition in 2023. Bryce has arranged for many different mediums ranging all the way from marching percussion ensemble to oboe with piano accompaniment. It is a major part of Bryce’s educational philosophy that students are exposed to compositional technology at a young age so they can learn to have their own voice beyond the music they are required to play in their traditional music course. Bryce most recently completed his student teaching at Center Grove Middle School Central and Center Grove High School under Mr. Shawn Humphries and Mr. Josh Torres, respectively. Bryce has also previously worked with the front ensembles at both Southport High School (PSA) and Edgewood High School (PSA). Since 2024, he has worked as an instructor for the POI Strings and Jazzy Things summer camp. Bryce recently graduated from the University of Indianapolis with his Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.E.) and is actively pursuing teaching and performing jobs in the area.

About the lesson

Taking lessons are the best and quickest way to grow as a musician. In an ensemble environment, you might not receive as much individualized attention as you would in a lesson, which would allow you to grow faster. It is my goal to foster a positive learning environment, expect excellence from all students, and give students an outlet to creatively express themselves.
