About Maddy
I am a current student at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, studying Music Education with a primary in Classical Clarinet performance. Though, English is a true passion of mine, and I hope to share my knowledge and help on the topic with those who are struggling with AP Literature and AP Language at the high school level. By using experiential learning methods, I teach by walking through processes so students know the methods of learning when they are on their own. Typically for AP Lang, a worksheet with a format or formula is given upfront so students know how to formulate varying essay types (Argumentative, Rhetorical Analysis, Synthesis), and we walk through what would make an essay stand out. From there, we work through different prompts and exerises to enhance their writing skills. For AP Literature, we go through the different qualities and notations in passages, and what to notice when reading different works. By doing so, students are then sure of not only what to write to make their essays stand out, but how to write them and why the key points they have found are relavant and important. These lessons are primarily suited for high school AP Lit and AP Lang students.
