About Ana-Sofia

Unlock your musical potential with a passionate and experienced instructor! I've been playing the violin since I was 8 years old, and my love for music has only grown. With over 6 years of teaching experience at East Somerville Community School, Harrington Elementary, Somerville Public Schools (SPS), and the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra (BYSO), I’ve worked with students of all ages, teaching orchestra, general music, chorus, and percussion. In addition to my public school teachings I've been providing private lessons to violin,viola or keyboard students.

I am honored to have been the recipient of the CFA Full Scholarship Merit Award to attend Boston University for Violin Performance and Music Education. My training continued at the Royal College of Music, ranked #1 in the world for performing arts and music in the QS World University Rankings. I’ve had the privilege of performing as an orchestral violinist in prestigious venues such as Boston Symphony Hall, Citizens Bank Opera House, Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall, and Britten Theater. This path culminated in earning my Massachusetts Educator License to teach all subjects of music from PreK-12th grade.

My teaching philosophy is centered around creating a learning environment where students feel secure and empowered to express themselves musically and reach their full potential. Through a student-centered approach, my goal is to help all students reach a level where they can read, compose, and perform music independently. Music offers a safe space to express emotions, build social bonds, and strengthen emotional resilience. I believe in the power of performance as a way to engage with the community, share talents, and create connections that unite and enrich us all. I view music education as a cultural portal that celebrates our diverse world. I strive to offer music lessons that reflect the richness of global musical traditions, influencing students' self-image and contributing to their overall success.
