About Julia

Hello! I’m Julia, a dedicated and experienced educator, musician, and tutor with over 6 years of teaching experience and nearly 20 years as a performer and learner. I specialize in French, violin/viola, music theory and history, and academic coaching for students of all ages. My approach is warm, structured, and responsive, I believe that with the right support, every student can grow in skill, confidence, and creativity. I’ve worked in schools, nonprofits, and private settings, guiding students from diverse backgrounds toward their academic and personal goals. I bring not only deep subject knowledge, but also a passion for culturally responsive, student-centered learning. You can expect clear communication, thoughtful planning, and a learning experience tailored to your unique needs and learning style. Whether you're preparing for an exam, picking up a new skill, or looking for mentorship and structure, I’m here to support you every step of the way, with professionalism, patience, and purpose.

About the lesson

I approach tutoring as a collaboration, I believe learning should be empowering, engaging, and tailored to you. My teaching is rooted in student-centered, culturally responsive methods, which means I meet each learner where they are, honor their identity and background, and build lessons around their goals, strengths, and learning style.

I break complex concepts into digestible parts, use real-life examples and analogies to make abstract ideas stick, and encourage active reflection. Whether we're working on French grammar, music theory, or academic skills, I foster a safe, affirming space where curiosity is welcome and mistakes are part of growth.
