Talk to the student and find out why they're not motivated to study. There could be a number of reasons, such as feeling overwhelmed, bored, or not seeing the point in studying. Once you understand the reason, you can start to address it.
Help the student set realistic goals. Don't just tell them to "study more." Help them break down their goals into smaller, more manageable steps. This will make it seem less daunting and more achievable.
