About Elena
My name is Elena, I'm a native and CLTA qualified Italian teacher with MD in Italian Linguistics and several years of teaching experience in Turin, London and Barcelona. Studying and teaching languages has always been a great passion for me, and I do my best to bring this enthusiasm into my work. I really enjoy preparing our teaching material and I don’t use standard textbooks. Whatever your reasons to study Italian, I’ll prepare the best possible bespoke material for you, depending on your interests, job and needs. Besides, you’ll get to speak right away, from Lesson 1, and we’ll use grammar in a smart way to help you do that as a real Italian!

My teaching philosophy: every student is different, so I don’t really believe in using the same method with everyone. I use multi‐approach techniques to suit the students best, and a wide range of tools and media (simulation of both magazines and job interviews, role‐playing games, analysis of movie clips with different accents etc).
There's more: how would you ask a platypus if they feel more like a ducky ferret or a furry duck? In Italian, by the way. I'm ready to bet a Spritz no teacher has ever asked you that! Or anybody else ever, for that matters. But they should! Let me explain... everybody knows how to order in a restaurant or ask for directions but it’s when you step out of the safe path that your brain really starts to learn faster... For one thing, you won't feel the pressure to look smart in front of your teacher. C'mon, they just asked you to speak Italian with a platypus, are you really worried about bad impressions? For another, you’ll have to work with your own resources to find a way to deal with a new situation. Which comes very handy when you speak with natives. (Natives always have this bad habit of saying a lot more things than what's in your handbook, and they never seem to ask you the questions you know how to answer...)
