About Luiza
My name is Luiza Mattosinho and I am a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker who is also fluent in English and upper intermediate (B2.1) in French. By living in Brazil throughout most of my childhood, I have experienced different languages and cultures, which has given me a real interest in communication and language learning.
I love travelling and discovering new countries, cultures and ways of life. Having lived in different countries myself, I understand how useful and rewarding it can be to speak another language, especially when travelling or communicating with people from different backgrounds.
I achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE Portuguese and currently study languages at A-level (French and English Language). As someone who has also learnt other languages, I understand that learning a new language can sometimes feel difficult or intimidating. I therefore aim to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and practising their Portuguese.
I am friendly, patient and enthusiastic, and I would love to help students develop their confidence in Portuguese, whether they are complete beginners, studying the language academically, or simply learning for travel and enjoyment.

My lessons are friendly, interactive and adapted to each student's individual goals and level. I aim to make learning Portuguese enjoyable and practical, with a strong focus on helping students feel confident using the language in real-life situations.
Lessons can include conversation practice, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing. I also like to use everyday situations, such as travelling, ordering food, meeting new people and having conversations, so students can learn Portuguese that they can actually use.
A typical lesson is around 60 minutes, although this can be adapted depending on the student's needs. At the beginning, I will discuss your current level and what you would like to achieve so that I can personalise future lessons around you.
I am a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker and am also fluent in English. I achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE Portuguese and have experience learning and studying different languages myself, which has helped me understand the challenges that language learners can face.
My lessons are suitable for beginners, students studying Portuguese at school, or anyone who would like to improve their conversational Brazilian Portuguese. All ages are welcome, and no previous knowledge of Portuguese is required for beginner lessons.
