Native Chinese Speaker & fluent January Mandarin teacher at Taunton - Man

Ellen Man Teng has been teaching me mandarin for 8 months now. She is a very hard working teacher who puts a lot of effort into creating a structured and varied lesson which she then emails to you, allowing you to have it for yourself and print it off etc. Her lessons cover all aspects of language learning: Reading, writing, speaking and listening. They are well resourced lessons with new vocab lists, a reading exercise, a speaking exercise and grammar points. She will ask questions in Chinese which helps speaking and listening, and improves general conversation. Her help extends outside of her lessons too, where she will give you the option to message her in Chinese (via WeChat), which significantly helps casual conversation and picking up common vocabulary. Ellen sets homework too, which (for me) is usually a writing task, and at the beginning of your next lesson she will mark it and advise you how to improve upon it. Ellen is very good at producing a course tailored to you if you have specific needs, for example: I originally came to her wanting to take A level mandarin, and when I arrived at my first lesson she was very familiar with the A Level course and teaching plan and was ready to help me do it. Later I decided to learn HSK instead of A-level due to not having enough time along with my other A-Levels, and immediately she prepared lessons using HSK vocab and examination style. All in all, I am greatly enjoying my lessons with Ellen and she is a very hardworking, friendly and skilled teacher.
