About Julian
I am a recent graduate of the University of Cambridge, who has a strong passion for languages and cultures.
As a native Chinese speaker with extensive lived experience in both China and the UK, I have developed strong language skills which make me a competent Chinese teacher. My high command of the two languages can be seen in the top grades that I have achieved in language exams (e.g. a 98th percentile score in A-Level Chinese and 8.5 out of 9 in IELTS). With my previous experience as a teaching assistant and book translator, I am thoroughly familiar with the difficulties students may experience with Chinese tones and grammar, as well as ways to make it easier and fun to learn. I am confident that my knowledge of the Chinese language and my exam tips will be particularly useful for those who are preparing for exams.

I give Chinese lessons to students from various age groups and backgrounds. These include lessons for those who are completely new to the language, as well as targeted preparation for HSK/GCSE/AS candidates.
Students will be encouraged to raise questions and discuss their topics of interest anytime. Exercise and optional reading/listening materials will be provided to help students track their own progress.
