About Stephanie
Bonjour ! My name is Steph and I have a Bachelor of Education for secondary school science from a French university, but I also have training in French language acquisition for adults and teens.
Personal experience learning both Spanish and German has given me a really great understanding for how difficult it is to learn to communicate in a foreign language when you're not confident in your abilities, and are scared to make mistakes. As a language tutor, I aim to provide a space in which you can make as many mistakes as you want, and a space in which we can focus on your ability to communicate and be understood, and your confidence in speaking (or reading and writing). That way, we can avoid you asking "Do you speak English?", and give you the confidence to say "Je veux essayer en français !"
I do not nit-pick at mistakes, nor do I focus on communicating without errors. I believe the best thing you can do for your progression in a new language is to be less afraid to engage, so that's what I focus on with my students. That being said, if you want help with the nitty-gritty parts of the French language, I can help you too!
I can help with your needs for school, for work, for travel reasons, or just because we live in a bilingual country. Learning a new language gives you incredible insight into culture, and a different way to interpret the world - I hope we can work together along your journey!

French can be scary! There are tons of rules, tricky pronunciation, and to make things worse... nouns have genders - as a teacher with experience and training in French language acquisition, I'm here to help you feel more confident in your day-to-day French so you can launch yourself into any situation on stronger footing.
My focus is on getting you to be able to communicate effectively - the grammar and rules can come later, but if you want to be able to get by, and learn in an environment that prioritises your confidence so that you can engage more in French, you've come to the right person!
