About Joie

Learning a language can feel intimidating, especially when you are not confident speaking yet. My goal is to create a friendly, respectful and supportive environment where you can practice without feeling judged.

I am a native French speaker from Belgium and I also speak English and Spanish, which allows me to communicate with students from different backgrounds and adapt when explanations are needed in another language.

I take each student's goals and level seriously and prepare lessons according to their individual needs. I am patient, attentive and happy to explain things in different ways until they become clear.

My professional experience in the social and psychosocial field has strengthened my communication, listening and interpersonal skills, which I bring into my lessons.

Whether you are learning French for travel, work, studies or simply for yourself, you can expect well-prepared, personalized lessons and a relaxed atmosphere in which you can progress at your own pace.

About the lesson

My approach as a tutor:

I believe that learning a language should be practical, enjoyable and adapted to each person. My main focus is helping students feel comfortable using French in real-life situations, rather than simply memorizing rules.

I adapt each lesson to your level, goals and interests. Depending on what you need, we can focus on conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, listening comprehension or specific situations such as traveling, moving abroad, socializing or communicating at work.

A typical lesson can start with a short conversation to practice speaking and review what we worked on previously. We then focus on a specific topic or language point, followed by practical exercises and conversation. I correct mistakes along the way and explain useful expressions or grammar when relevant. We finish by reviewing the main points and, if you want, identifying something to practice before the next lesson.

I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all method. Some students prefer structured lessons and exercises, while others learn better through conversation and practical situations. We can adapt the balance depending on what works best for you.

As a Belgian native French speaker who also speaks English and Spanish and has extensive international and travel experience, I understand the challenges of learning and using a foreign language in everyday life. My professional background in the social and psychosocial field has also taught me to listen, communicate clearly and adapt to people with different needs and backgrounds.

My lessons are suitable for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners, particularly adults and teenagers who want to improve their conversational French, prepare for traveling or living in a French-speaking environment, or simply become more confident and spontaneous when speaking.

Most importantly, you don't need to be afraid of making mistakes. Mistakes are part of learning, and my goal is to create a relaxed and supportive space where you can practice French with confidence and gradually become more independent.
