About Johannes

As a passionate learner of foreign languages myself, I moved into German tutoring more than seven years ago. I have an academic background in linguistics and political sciences (MA Middle Eastern Studies and Intensive Language at SOAS, University of London). I believe that as a native speaker I can help my students make fast and lasting progress, especially in speaking and listening comprehension. Though I have particular experience preparing students for exams, I always welcome new ideas and preferences. I genuinely enjoy teaching German and hope to share that enthusiasm with you!

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each individual based on their learning objectives. In recent years, I have taught both high-school students preparing for exams (AQA, OCR, Edexcel) and adults looking to improve their German for career opportunities. Based on these needs, I design worksheets and interactive activities that cover the relevant grammar and vocabulary required by the curriculum. For exam preparation, I hold mock exams to ensure students are thoroughly prepared for the big day. If your goal is to improve spoken German, I create classes around your personal interests—such as art, history, politics, or other areas. With past students, I have translated chapters from their favourite German novels, practised rap songs, and analysed TV footage of recent political debates.
