About Sky

I'm a native Irish speaker from the Connemara Gaeltacht, where I completed both primary and secondary education through Irish and achieved a H1 (98%) in Leaving Certificate Irish. I am currently entering the final year of my Law and Business degree at the University of Galway and am completing an Internship with Oifig an Choimisinéara Teanga, working through Irish in a professional environment.

I am passionate about helping others gain confidence in Irish, whether they are preparing for exams, improving their conversational skills, or returning to the language after time away. Through the Gaelchara Scheme, I taught my yoga instructor practical conversational Irish that she could use in her classes, giving me valuable experience in tailoring lessons to a learner's specific interests and goals. I have also helped summer students and adult learners improve their spoken Irish and prepare for exams.

My tutoring style is patient, supportive, and tailored to each individual. I aim to make lessons engaging, practical, and enjoyable while helping learners build confidence and achieve their goals as the lessons progress.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is friendly, practical, and tailored to each student's individual needs. As a native Irish speaker from the Connemara Gaeltacht, I believe that confidence is the key to language learning, so I focus on creating a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable using Irish without fear of making mistakes.

I adapt every lesson to the student's goals, whether that's preparing for the Junior or Leaving Certificate, improving conversational Irish, strengthening grammar and writing skills, or building confidence for everyday use. I place a strong emphasis on speaking and listening skills, using real-life conversations and interactive exercises to help students develop fluency naturally while also ensuring they have a solid understanding of grammar and vocabulary.

Lessons typically last 60 minutes, although shorter or longer sessions can be arranged depending on the student's needs.
I have experience with summer students preparing for exams, helping learners improve their conversational Irish, and supporting adults returning to the language.

My lessons are suitable for secondary school students, university students, adult learners, and anyone looking to improve their Irish, from complete beginners to more advanced speakers.
