About Gaby

Salve a tutti! I am a born and bred Italian scientist and university lecturer. I have taught Italian as a vocational language to a select group of motivated adult learners since the early 2000's in various settings in the UK and Australia. I love teaching my beautiful mother tongue to those who appreciate the rich heritage of the Italian culture.
I have experience teaching informal, formal and academic level Italian. What is most important for me is my students' success and progressive improvement while thoroughly enjoying the journey.
Many of my students either wanted to prepare to study at Italian universities or wanted to buy a holiday home in Italy. And some became so confident and proficient that they ended up relocating to Italy permanently!
My approach is generally informal but structured and I provide materials tailored to the student's level.

I have several hobbies amongst which are language learning, world music, baking and cooking. I leverage on all these to help me design teaching materials that students find interesting and stimulating.

About the lesson

Once a lesson plan is agreed, classes are designed to always be varied and interactive and topics are guided from the student's interests and hobbies. If the student is keen on Italian cinema, art, music, cooking or sightseeing, I will structure the lesson plan around the topics the students feel more drawn to. After my lessons I follow-up with the summary of the vocabulary discussed in our class activities with an audio with the correct pronunciation in standard Italian. I then assign some fun activities based on the student's interests to work on between lessons.

Perfect! Obviously knows her subject very well. Speaks clearly and uses extended vocabulary. Achieved pretty good balance between speaking (showing how Italian should be spoken), listening and correcting.

The price quoted is the minimum price for a standard private lesson of 1 hr and for 1 person.

Lessons prices are agreed on a case-by-case basis (single student, couples etc) and also please note that I do not teach at students' homes.

My private classes may include a maximum of three people only if all are at very similar levels of proficiency.

In all lessons, my students receive a PDF of the new vocabulary covered in class and an audio recording of the correct pronunciation of the material in the PDF.
