About Minyoung

Hi! I’m Minyoung, a native Korean speaker currently living in Canada.

Although I’m new to professional tutoring, I have personally been helping my Canadian husband and his family learn Korean little by little. Through this experience, I’ve enjoyed explaining Korean expressions, pronunciation, and cultural differences in a simple and approachable way.

I understand that Korean can feel challenging at first, especially when you are learning Hangul or trying to turn what you have studied into an actual conversation. That’s why I want to create a comfortable and encouraging environment where students can ask questions, make mistakes, and practice speaking without pressure.

As a native Korean speaker, I can also help you learn the natural expressions and everyday Korean that you may not always find in textbooks. I’m happy to work with complete beginners as well as students who already know some Korean and want to become more comfortable and confident speaking it.

Most importantly, I want my lessons to feel friendly, practical, and personalized to you and your goals!

About the lesson

My lessons focus on practical Korean that you can actually use in real-life situations. Rather than spending most of the lesson memorizing grammar rules, I encourage students to speak, listen, practice, and use what they learn through guided conversation and role-play.

Lessons are personalized based on your Korean level, goals, interests, and preferred learning style. A typical lesson may include a short warm-up conversation, useful vocabulary and expressions, guided speaking practice, pronunciation correction, real-life scenarios, review, and feedback.

Complete beginners are always welcome! If you are starting from zero, we can learn Hangul step by step while also practicing simple Korean expressions from the beginning. As you improve, we can gradually build longer and more natural conversations.

Depending on your goals, lessons can focus on everyday conversation, traveling or living in Korea, making Korean friends, dating and relationships, workplace Korean, Korean culture, food, hobbies, K-dramas and movies, pronunciation, casual Korean, or free conversation.

My goal is to create a comfortable environment where you do not have to be afraid of making mistakes. I want you to leave each lesson feeling that you learned Korean you can actually understand, remember, and use.
