About Eva
Having received a traditional Chinese education while also studying in an international environment, I have a strong understanding of both Chinese language and culture. Beyond everyday Mandarin, I can also introduce students to Classical Chinese, Chinese literature, history, art, films, and cultural traditions, helping them gain a deeper appreciation of the language and the people who speak it.
I am friendly, patient, and easy to communicate with, and I pride myself on creating a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes. My schedule is flexible, and I enjoy adapting lessons to each student's interests and goals.
What motivates me to teach is not only my passion for language, but also my curiosity about people and cultures. I enjoy meeting learners from different backgrounds, exchanging perspectives, and discovering new ways of understanding the world through language. Teaching allows me to deepen my own understanding of Mandarin while helping others build confidence and achieve their goals.

My lessons are fully personalised based on each student's level, goals, and learning preferences. I focus on creating a supportive and interactive environment, using practical conversation, vocabulary building, pronunciation practice, and cultural insights to help students develop confidence in Mandarin. A typical lesson lasts around 60 minutes, though lesson content can be adjusted to meet individual needs.
I have experience teaching English to Chinese students online, providing private English tutoring to primary school students, and teaching Mandarin to adult learners through online communities. In addition, I hold an HSK Level 3 certificate and have developed strong communication skills through my academic background in Psychology and Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh.
My lessons are suitable for learners of all ages and levels, from complete beginners to more advanced students. As long as we can communicate effectively about your goals and learning needs, I will tailor the lessons to help you achieve steady and enjoyable progress.
