About Elaine

I am an experienced Mandarin teacher based in Brisbane, dedicated to delivering engaging and age-appropriate learning experiences. My teaching approach incorporates a variety of activities such as singing, storytelling, interactive games, and quizzes to keep students motivated and involved. I also integrate cultural elements into my lessons—particularly during traditional Chinese festivals—through hands-on activities like dumpling-making, paper cutting, and Chinese knot crafting.

I previously taught the Modern Chinese short course at QUT for three years and am currently teaching HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, or the Chinese Proficiency Test) at Griffith University. Beyond the classroom, I actively participate in school cultural events and work to promote Chinese language and culture across primary and secondary schools throughout Queensland.

About the lesson

My teaching method is based on the age and needs of students. I choose topics based on practical Chinese text books or HSK books, and focus on pronunciation and practical skills. For young children, my teaching styles are varied, including singing Chinese nursery rhymes, telling stories, playing games, etc., to keep up children's interest.
