About Effey
Hi! I'm a native Mandarin speaker originally from Taiwan, currently living in the United States. Growing up in Taiwan, Mandarin has always been my first language, and I love sharing it with others through natural, everyday conversation.
Since I'm based in the US, my schedule is very flexible and I can easily accommodate students across different time zones — whether you're in North America, Asia, or anywhere in between. I understand what it feels like to live abroad and worry about losing touch with your mother tongue, and I'd love to help you keep that connection alive.
I'm friendly, patient, and easygoing — think of our sessions as a casual chat with a friend, not a formal class!

Do you want to keep your Mandarin feeling natural and effortless? My sessions are completely flexible — there's no fixed curriculum, no textbooks, and no lesson plans. Everything is built around you and what you want to talk about!
I'm a native Mandarin speaker from Taiwan, so you'll be exposed to natural Taiwanese Mandarin in every session. Before we chat, we can discuss topics that interest you most — daily life, travel, food, movies, culture, or anything on your mind. I'll follow your lead and keep the conversation relaxed and enjoyable.
I may not be a professional teacher, but sometimes the best practice comes from just having a real, pressure-free conversation with a native speaker. If you simply want someone friendly to chat with in Chinese and keep your Mandarin warm — I'm your person!
