About Xena
I am a native Mirpuri/Pothwari speaker and grew up learning the language from my grandmother, who didn’t speak English. I know firsthand how challenging it can be to learn Mirpuri/Pothwari outside of the family, and I’m passionate about helping students speak it confidently while understanding its rich oral tradition. I’m a graduate in English & Comparative Literature, with experience in French and Classical Latin, which helps me explain language clearly and simply. My lessons are relaxed, conversation-based, and neurodivergence-friendly, focusing on listening, speaking, and building fluency at your own pace. I’m proud of my heritage and deeply committed to helping students reconnect with Mirpuri/Pothwari, improve their skills, and keep our language alive for future generations.

Mirpuri/Pothwari is mainly a spoken language, and it can be very hard to learn outside of a family or community setting. As a native, mother-tongue speaker, I teach the language as it’s actually used in everyday life, not in an artificial or textbook way. Lessons are relaxed, conversation-based, and shaped around you. We focus on listening and speaking first, building confidence gradually, with explanations added only when they’re helpful. I can also teach in a neurodivergence-friendly way, working at your pace and creating a calm, supportive space to learn. I’m a graduate in English & Comparative Literature, with academic experience in French and Classical Latin, which helps me explain language clearly and simply. Lessons are usually 60 minutes and are suitable for beginners, heritage learners, and more confident speakers, including adults and older teenagers who want to reconnect with Mirpuri/Pothwari, improve fluency, and help keep a deeply personal, underrepresented language alive.
