About Sarah
I'm a native Mandarin and Shanghainese speaker who's worked across different countries and cultures — from a corporate career collaborating with international teams, to closely observing how life and communication differ across China's regions, to living in the Cook Islands and New Zealand along the way. I don't have a formal teaching qualification, but I do bring a background in psychology and mindfulness — so lessons feel relaxed, and I'm genuinely paying attention to where you're at, not just running through a script.

My teaching isn't aimed at exam preparation, but at people who need practical, living Mandarin — whether that's for doing business with Chinese counterparts, navigating relationships with Chinese colleagues or friends, or a genuine interest in Chinese culture. I draw on classical Chinese stories, poetry, and history to help you understand not just the language, but the logic and values behind how Chinese people think and communicate.
Lessons typically run 30-60 minutes, shaped around your pace and goals. Expect lessons that are engaging, rich in content, and genuinely two-way — I learn from your questions and perspective as much as you learn from mine.
Suitable for adult learners wanting practical, conversational Mandarin connected to real cultural and business understanding, rather than exam-focused study.
