About Johnnie

I'm Johnnie, born to a Chinese family but raised in Spain, currently living in Townsville while completing a Master of Science at James Cook University. Spanish is my native language — I grew up speaking it every day with family, so I bring real, natural fluency rather than textbook Spanish alone.

Growing up between two cultures gave me a genuine love for languages and an early understanding of what it actually takes to learn one properly. I'm multilingual myself, and I know firsthand how rewarding, and sometimes challenging, that process can be which makes me patient and empathetic as a tutor.

I like to look at things holistically: if a word or concept doesn't click right away, I won't just repeat it. I'll explain it a different way, use an example, or approach it from another angle until it genuinely makes sense to you, not just something memorized.

Outside of my studies, I value discipline, curiosity, and clear communication. I'm approachable, reliable, and genuinely excited to help you build real confidence in Spanish, one step at a time.

About the lesson

I'm a native Spanish speaker from Spain, currently completing a Master's degree at James Cook University. This is my first time tutoring formally, but I bring genuine native fluency, patience, and real cultural context — and I'm putting real thought into making lessons useful and enjoyable, not just going through the motions.

My approach is conversation-focused: I believe the best way to learn is by actually speaking, so lessons blend practical conversation with grammar explained simply when needed, adjusted to your pace and goals — travel, everyday conversation, or building a foundation from scratch.

Lessons typically run 45–60 minutes, kept relaxed and pressure-free. I'm not a certified teacher, but I'm committed to preparing properly for each session and genuinely invested in your progress.

My lessons suit complete beginners through intermediate learners, teens and adults alike — especially anyone who wants a patient, encouraging first tutor as they start out.
