About Mariela

I’m Mariela, a native Spanish speaker. I moved to England 8 years ago and I had to learn how to confidently speak English from scratch. I understand the struggle of learning a new language and how sometimes one might want to give up. When I was younger, I had lots of help from my teachers and my friends to improve my English and now I even study English A level. I want to help other students who find it hard or need extra help with learning Spanish, new languages open so many opportunities and that’s what my lessons are about. I am engaging and understanding - qualities that inspire me to be a tutor.

About the lesson

I am an A level student with a grade 9 pass at GCSE and I currently have mentoring experience for year 7s at my sixth form school. I am patient and kind with great understanding and communication skills with young children. My lessons are clear and engaging for Key Stage 3 students aged between 11-14 years old with availability on the weekends and afternoons during the week. In my lessons, I aim for an engaging teaching style, both academic and varied in order to allow my students to enjoy the lesson thus learn more effectively. Some of my techniques/methods: - Guided conversations in Spanish to improve on natural speaking - Revising exam questions - Guided reading out loud to improve reading and pronunciation - Focus on topics that the student is particularly struggling with - Quizzes

Excellent! She was very patient as we got to know each other and understand current level (A1) but I have not had much practice in speaking key phrases. I have agreed to have fortnightly sessions to focus on pronunciation and key phrases

Jim is a very good student with clear enthusiasm for learning Spanish. He helps with providing ideas for our lessons and isn’t afraid to ask questions which helps me give him a better learning experience. He has patience and is always ready to learn something new.
