About Laura
Originally from Spain, I was born in Madrid and completed my secondary education in Barcelona. At 18, I moved to London to pursue higher education, earning a BA from King's College London and an MA from Birkbeck. During my studies, I taught at homework clubs in various secondary schools across London and provided private tuition to students of different ages.
Following graduation, I joined my alma mater as a Learning Advisor, where I guided university students of various ages and academic levels. Before starting my DPhil (PhD) at Oxford, I spent three years teaching Humanities and Spanish at IB World Schools in Mumbai, India.
Beyond academics, I have a passion for reading, particularly enjoying philosophy, in-depth articles from The New Yorker, classic literature, and graphic novels. I’m also an avid movie enthusiast, appreciating everything from independent films to blockbusters, cult classics, and more. My interests extend to amateur filmmaking and scriptwriting. I also enjoy exploring museums and cooking.

With 10 years of experience in teaching, I have provided private one-on-one tuition as well as classes in both schools and universities. For three years, I taught Spanish in the IB DP and MYP programs, and I also served as a Learning Advisor at the Modern Language Centre of King's College London for two years.
I customize my lessons to meet the individual needs of my students, often focusing on oral practice to foster fluent conversations. I enjoy incorporating interactive digital resources and games, especially when teaching children and teenagers. Additionally, I am well-versed in preparing students for the official DELE exams, A-Levels and GCSE.
My approach emphasizes teaching Spanish alongside Spanish and Hispanic culture, enriching the learning experience with cultural context.
