About Santiago

My name is Santiago Sangro, and I am a college student at the University of Groningen. I am originally from Spain but I recently moved to The Netherlands to pursue my studies. I graduated high school with honors at the school Santa María del Pilar, in Madrid. I taught students from the Association San Vicente de Paul Spanish for approximately two years, mostly helping them improve their speaking and writing skills. I really enjoy teaching, and I believe Spanish is a very useful language to learn. I also play the guitar and enjoy reading, so you will definitely get many book recommendations (in Spanish of course) from me!

About the lesson

All classes will be taught in Spanish, adapting the vocabulary and grammar complexity to the level of the student. The classes will be divided into three categories: vocabulary and grammar, speaking, and reading. The vocabulary learned will depend on the level of the student, ranging from basic to advanced level. All vocabulary will be taught using multiple resources such as pictures, presentations, or real-life examples. Grammar will be taught by using multiple exercises, as well as books and comics. Syntactical analysis can also be taught if needed/wanted. Speaking will consist of various 10-15 minute conversations related to the topics learned in the previous lessons, forcing the student to use the new vocabulary as well as the new grammar. Correction of the pronunciation and accent will also play a big role in this lesson. Reading Comprehension will be taught by using Spanish literature. The main goal is for the student to read a small fragment of a text, and then answer a series of questions to analyze in-depth the parts that need more explanation. If students are requested to follow a specific outline by their school, the course can be adapted to improve their academic performance. If the student is preparing for a specific exam, the course can also be adapted to pass said exam.
