Hey! I'm Karen, let me tell you a little bit about me
So I'm originally from Colombia yes, land of good coffee, amazing people and of course, fútbol! Speaking of which, I am a huge soccer fan, so if you ever want to chat about that too, I'm totally here for it haha.
But okay, let me tell you how I got into teaching.

It kind of happened naturally. I started helping kids in their last grade with their academic Spanish just tutoring, nothing super formal at first. But something clicked. I started noticing their progress, seeing them go from struggling to actually getting it, and I just… loved it. Like genuinely loved it. That feeling of watching someone improve? There's nothing like it.
And here's what I think makes me a little different as a tutor. I'm not just a native Spanish speaker standing on the other side telling you "this is how it works." I actually know what it feels like to be the student. English is my second language, so I've lived that experience of learning something completely new, feeling lost sometimes, pushing through and finally getting there. I'm literally in your shoes.
So when you're in my class, you're not just getting someone who knows Spanish, you're getting someone who understands your journey because I've walked it too.
And honestly? I do this because I love it. Tutoring is not just a job for me, it's something I'm genuinely passionate about. Every single student I work with, I show up fully because I care about your progress just as much as you do.

Hey there! I'm Karen
So let me tell you a little about myself and why I think we'd make a great team.
I'm a native Spanish speaker and I am absolutely passionate about teaching, but what really sets me apart is that I've been in your shoes. I decided to take on the challenge of learning English, and I got to an advanced level. So trust me, I know how hard it can be, especially when life gets busy and you can't practice as often as you'd like. No judgment here, I get it completely.
That's actually what inspired me to teach the way I do.
My classes are not your typical boring grammar drills. I love making lessons fun and dynamic through activities that actually keep you engaged, while still building a strong foundation in grammar so you truly understand what you're learning not just memorizing it.
In our sessions together we'll work on everything you need — vocabulary, speaking, listening and writing. But here's the thing, you're in the driver's seat. Whatever you want to focus on the most, that's where we'll put our energy. These lessons are about your goals, not a one-size-fits-all program.
I currently work with beginner and intermediate students, including those with academic goals, and honestly there is nothing more rewarding than watching someone go from nervous and hesitant to speaking Spanish with real confidence.
