About Charles

As a PhD neuroscience student at the University of Utah and an active participant in the software startup space, I bring a unique blend of academic rigor and practical experience to my tutoring sessions. My background allows me to offer insights not only in theoretical concepts but also in their real-world applications. This dual perspective helps students bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical use, particularly in areas of science, entry-level coding, mathematics, statistics, and business development.

Teaching Method and Techniques:
My approach as a tutor is centered around identifying and addressing the specific areas where students experience difficulties. I utilize a variety of techniques to shift their perspective on the problem, making it more approachable and understandable. This involves using unique angles and methods tailored to each student's learning style. My goal is to foster a deeper understanding and to build confidence in tackling challenging tasks.

A Typical Lesson Plan:

Initial Discussion: I start with a conversation to pinpoint where the student needs help. This involves discussing their current understanding and any specific problems they are facing.
Problem Analysis: We review examples of the problems they are struggling with, often using their own materials as a foundation.
Supplementary Learning: I introduce relevant supplementary materials to provide additional context and practice.
Interactive Learning: Together, we work through the problems, exploring different methods and solutions.
Review and Feedback: At the end of the session, we review what was learned, address any remaining questions, and set goals for the next lesson.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:
What distinguishes me from other tutors is my collaborative approach to learning. Rather than simply lecturing, I learn alongside my students, creating a supportive and engaging environment. This makes the learning process feel less isolating and more like a shared journey.

Target Audience:
I offer tutoring for students ranging from high school to undergraduate levels. My lessons are designed for those who need assistance in specific subjects or concepts and benefit from a personalized, supportive learning experience. Whether you're a high school student preparing for exams, an undergraduate tackling complex coursework, or someone interested in gaining insights into business development, my tutoring services are tailored to meet your unique needs. With my expertise in science, coding, mathematics, statistics, and business, I am well-equipped to help students excel in these areas and achieve their academic and professional goals.
