About Laura
As a First-Class English graduate with over six years of tutoring and classroom experience, I understand how important it is for students to feel supported, understood and confident in their learning. I bring patience, professionalism and genuine enthusiasm to every lesson—whether we’re working through GCSE exam texts or strengthening literacy foundations. I’ve helped a wide range of students, including those with SEND, anxiety and learning differences, to make real academic progress while also building their self-belief. My sessions are structured, adaptable and always tailored to individual learning styles. I hold a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning, a TEFL certificate and full safeguarding training. My teaching style is flexible, student-led and rooted in confidence-building, clarity and critical thinking. I adapt each lesson to suit the individual learner—whether that means breaking down complex literary texts, improving SPaG or introducing accessible essay-writing techniques! With over six years’ experience as a Private Tutor and classroom-based support professional, including in SEN settings, I now specialise in delivering top quality, personalised GCSE English Literature and Language tuition. I also work with KS2–KS3 students to strengthen their core skills in reading, writing, grammar and comprehension. My lessons are inclusive and accessible, often using visual aids, memory strategies and scaffolded resources, especially when working with neurodiverse learners or those needing extra support. A typical lesson is 60 minutes, but I’m happy to adjust to 45 or 90 minutes depending on the student’s needs and concentration. Lessons are online, or I can travel locally across Chester. I always provide regular feedback to students and families to track progress and set clear goals. I hold a First-Class BA Hons in English from the University of Nottingham, along with a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning and a 120-hour TEFL certificate. My goal is always to make English feel not only manageable but meaningful—whether we’re working on Shakespeare or linguistics! My lessons are ideal for: - GCSE English students (Years 9–11) preparing for exams or aiming to boost grades - KS2–KS3 students looking to build confidence and literacy skills - Learners with SEND, anxiety or learning difficulties who need patient, personalised support - Students seeking help with homework, revision strategies or general study skills If you’re looking for a supportive, well-organised tutor who takes pride in helping learners reach their full potential in English, I’d love to hear from you!
