About Nilanjan
Hi, I'm Nilanjan — a musician on a journey spanning over a decade, with a graduate degree in English that shapes how I connect and communicate with my students. I began learning and teaching music from a young age, and today I teach from the very same place where I first learned, carrying forward a legacy that once shaped me. I've taught students ranging from 3-year-olds to 60-year-olds, bringing the same care and passion to every lesson, hoping to spark that same love for music in their hearts. My focus goes beyond just technique — I aim to help students build a genuine musical culture in their own lives, so that music becomes a lasting part of who they are, not just a passing hobby.

Hi, I'm Nilanjan, a guitar teacher with over 10 years of experience specializing in Western non-classical genres including jazz, rock, blues, pop, metal, and Bollywood songs, and my teaching philosophy centers on building well-rounded musicians through a deep understanding and relationship with music rather than just song imitation. Every lesson is grounded in in-depth music theory — scales, modes, chord construction, harmony, and progressions — alongside staff notation and sight-reading skills so students aren't limited to tabs alone, along with ear training exercises that sharpen the ability to recognize intervals, chords, and progressions by ear, and transcription exercises that train students to pick out real songs and solos from recordings, together building genuine musical intuition beyond textbook learning. Classes run a full hour, tailored to the student's age and level, from children just starting out to adults refining advanced technique, and I provide detailed post-lesson notes along with ongoing guidance between sessions to keep students progressing consistently, all while maintaining a critical focus on both technique and feel — clean, efficient playing paired with dynamics, timing, and expression — so that every student grows into a musician who is technically skilled, theoretically informed, and creatively expressive.

Details
I charge fees in advance by the 10th of the month and not after providing classes. I do provide alternative classes If I miss any class but I only provide 1 alternative class if the student misses 2 classes.
