About the lesson

NIE-MOE trained, specializing in literacy support and reading instruction for young children

I am familiar with the Singapore English Language Syllabus as I have taught English in government schools. I have 8 years of teaching experience. I have a strong foundation in phonics and literacy support, allowing me to facilitate progression in students’ reading fluency.

For younger learners, I focus on creating opportunities to allow students to read for pleasure, while creating a safe environment where students can explore and gain interest in books. I also focus on teaching phonics fundamentals, so students will be able to decode, blend and read fluently. Besides this, I also emphasize on exposing students to high frequency words. This way, students’ vocabulary is enriched and they will gradually become more confident readers.

I was involved in the planning of MOE’s Literacy Support Program in Primary schools, which cater to struggling readers at the P1 and P2 level. I was also involved in the preparation of material for the Reading Remediation Program for levels P3-5. With my experience and expertise, I believe not only will the child be able to know how to read, but they will also grow to love to read.

Students under me have achieved impressive improvements in their reading comprehension and fluency abilities. Based on their understanding, they are able to make meaningful interactions with the texts they read.

For older learners, due to time constraints, I spend more time focusing on practice instead. Both of my P6 students whom I had taught in 2025 improved tremendously (from AL4 and 5) and achieved AL2 for English for PSLE.

Science
With a degree in both Chemistry and Education, I specialize in the teaching of Science at the Primary level.

I am familiar with the Singapore Science Syllabus as I have taught Science in government schools. I have 8 years of teaching experience. I have prepared students for PSLE before, and have experience teaching both foundation and GEP science. I am able to explain fundamental concepts and impart critical-thinking and analytical skills to students. I am also familiar with the key points that examiners look out for in the Open-Ended Questions.

I guide students to use their textbook (created by MOE’s Curriculum Planning and Development Division) to make notes. I emphasize on key points and concepts which are necessary based on the syllabus document. I also use practice papers to teach students question analysis and answering techniques.
