Approach:
My approach to any English tutoring session is to help the student recognize key words in any writing sample, including their own, instead of getting lost in the verbiage, length, or quality of the writing. By doing so, the student can learn how to recognize the main arguments of the sample in a quicker, less strenuous manner.
Lesson Plan:
If a student needs help on the structure/flow/organization of their writing sample, I will first use my approach as mentioned above, and ask them to analyze each paragraph of their sample to test if the main argument of each paragraph restates the question presented or supports its relevance and importance to the call of the question.
