About David
David Supina is a resident of the Edmonton area who has several years of experience tutoring. He has a Bachelor degree in Philosophy and can think methodically or creatively and intuitively. He has a positive, energetic personality, loves to tell jokes and generally try to help his students feel better about their abilities. In his free time, he plays absurdly complex board games, practices piano, writes poetry and argues with his brother, who happens to be wrong about everything (or so David thinks). He has three cats, all of whom are very cute, named Monkey, Mew and Knuckles.

Part of the reason someone wants to play a piano has to do with the fact that the piano is an instrument that can play harmonies all by itself. So why do so many beginning lessons stress only one note at a time melodies? Well, you need to learn how to do those things, and yes, some scales and other technique helps, but it's also possible to learn how to do basic harmony right from the start.
A lot of it begins with understanding some basic harmony principles, such as a how to construct a major or minor chord from ANY note, and what the "Pop Music Four Chords" are, and why they are so prevalent and let you play so many different songs, but most of all, there needs to be excitement about practice. I love to work at my instrument, and I hope this is infectious.
I am willing to take students who range in ability from approximately prepatory to grade 4 in RCM, although it's optional for us to use the RCM system.
