The workshop is divided into a series of progressive modules lasting one month each. This teaching method seeks to give a complete introduction to different painting methods and realistic, classic and / or academic drawing in each case. The workshop will be developed in progressive modules that will cover a certain topic or technique: block in, grisaille, mud study, study of value, ebauche, end game or fini etc. The aim of the workshop is to introduce the student to the traditional techniques of academic and realistic drawing within the framework of contemporaneity, starting from traditional methods. It will make use of diverse materials that will go from sculptures, old paintings, copies of Bargue, live models and still lifes to photographs and videos. Among the techniques that will be seen are: 1. The modeling method of the form used in the French Academy in the 19th century. 2. The comparative measurement and the triangulation by which the proportions are determined. 3. The method of sight-size in which it seeks to represent an object of the exact size in which it is perceived. This method is currently used in European and North American schools such as the Florence Academy of Art and the Grand Central Academy of Art. One of the practical exercises that will be carried out as an introduction, following the method of the French academy, is the realization of a copy of Bargue. The use of the mirror to train the eye to observe the subtle differences between the object and our drawing. 5. Perceptual techniques or ways of seeing (negative spaces, projection of a similar form etc.) that allow the student to reach an optimum level in the art and science of drawing. 6. The methods of structural or constructive drawing, understood, the knowledge of perspective and anatomy applied to the mimetic construction of an organic or geometric form. This method consists in the learning of the planes of the body, the pathways or paths demarcated by the anatomy to represent the harmony "hidden" in the human body. Value: The different values used to model the shape of an object and give it three-dimensionality. Below you can see an example of the sphere of values: Tint: The family to which a certain color belongs (yellow, blue or red) Chroma: The degree of intensity of a color. Types of palettes: The type of palette depends on the number of colors used. There are pallets of only four colors like the one used by Zorn in some studios and paintings: titanium white, yellow ocher, cadium red, alizarin and ivory black. Also very wide palettes like those used by the impressionists. Temperature: How warm or cold is a color on a comparative scale with other colors. The effects of the aerial perspective of Leonardo Da Vinci, the color of the shadow inheritance of the impressionists, atmospheric effects of color etc. will also be discussed.
