About Alexandra
I am a senior biochemistry major at the University of Houston with a minor in education. I always believed I would pursue science as a researcher. However, after completing my certification in high school biology I have realized science is my passion, but teaching is my calling. My best quality is I can explain anything to anyone. I find it very easy to break things down with examples people already know. I love seeing the understanding that follows. I also think my passion for science really shines in my lessons.

Virtual biology lessons for high school or first year college students. My lesson plans are designed around the 5E model. There will be online "lab" demos with worksheets that help students make real-life connections to their learning. While I am good at giving lectures, I know most students learn better when they explore the answer. I don't believe in giving away the answers and asking students to memorize them. I believe in a discovery approach. This has been made more accessible to provide virtually since covid. I like online simulations, like biology video games, with worksheets that guide learning and keep the focus on track. I give mini questionnaires after every session to see what was retained and what needs to be revisited.
