About Zinny

Hi, I’m Zinny, an English tutor with a strong academic background and a passion for helping students build confidence in both English Literature and English Language.

I achieved Grade 9s in both GCSE subjects and went on to study English literature at A level achieving an A*. I also hold a TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) qualification, which has strengthened my understanding of language acquisition, communication and effective teaching techniques.
Having recently completed my studies, I have a strong understanding of the skills, exam technique and revision strategies needed to succeed.
Alongside this, I have experienced working with young people not just through tutoring but also through my role as Head Coach of an u13s boys’ rugby team. This helped me fully develop my love for teaching, as well as learning how to be patient, adaptable and explain complex ideas clearly to a range of learners.
I am passionate about helping students build confidence in their abilities, develop their communication skills, and achieve their academic goals.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to build confidence first and grades second, because in my experience students perform best when they understand what examiners are actually looking for rather than simply memorising content.

Before our first lesson, I like to discuss a student’s strengths, areas for improvement, and academic goals. This allows me to create lessons that focus on the skills that will make the biggest difference to their progress.

A typical lesson will include a mixture of explanation, guided practice, and independent application. For English Literature, this may involve analysing extracts, exploring themes and characters, improving essay structure, and developing higher-level interpretations. For English Language, lessons may focus on analytical writing, creative writing, reading skills, and examination technique.

As someone who has recently completed these qualifications myself, I can offer practical advice on revision, essay planning, time management, and how to maximise marks in examinations.

I aim to make lessons engaging, supportive, and challenging, creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in their abilities. Whether you are aiming to improve your grades, prepare for GCSE examinations, or simply become a more confident writer, I will work with you to help you achieve your goals.
