About Leah
I am a pianist and teacher based in Sydney, and have been teaching piano for the past 10 years. I have a Bachelor of Music from Excelsia College, where I majored in Classical piano performance, as well as a Bachelor of Creative Technology from JMC Academy.

Hi! I'm Leah and I'd love to be your new online piano teacher!
A typical online lesson with me will include:
- Technical skills. Developing relaxed, strong technique and familiarity with the piano.
- Theory. Understanding how the music works, to support sight-reading and playing.
- Aural skills. Using your ear to distinguish rhythm, melody and harmonies.
- Guidance and specific feedback on your repertoire.
- I'll often throw a little bit of improvisation into the mix as well.
My aim for the lesson is for you to leave feeling encouraged, motivated and with a clear idea of what to do throughout the week to keep growing as a musician and enjoying the creative process!
My lessons are always designed around the goals, experience and learning style of the student. For example, if they have aspirations of working towards exams and competitions, the emphasis of the lesson would be developing dexterity of technique, sight reading and repertoire. For a student who is coming from a singing background, or who is more interested in pop music I would emphasise listening skills, and understanding how chords and scales work to create really lovely accompaniment.

Details
Fees are charged at a flat monthly rate. For 30 minute lessons, this is $150/month (approximately $45 per lesson over 40 weeks per year). For 45 minute lessons this is $200/month ($60 per lesson) and for 60 minutes is $266/month ($80 per lesson).
