About Natalie
I have worked as a full-time teacher in K-12, Transition (ages 18-21), and Adult education for 14 years. I have worked as an ESL/ELL teacher for adults and children, Elementary education K-6 (all subject areas), and have taught in the special education field for 9 years (K-12). As an educator, I embrace the opportunity to inspire and empower. It is my goal to enhance student learning as a transformative experience. Ideally, I want students to feel personally changed by their participation in my classroom. Having students challenge their own beliefs is central to my philosophy of teaching. I believe that doing this, helps students sharpen critical thinking skills and encourages acceptance and understanding toward others. I work to encourage students to challenge existing boundaries by teaching them to question how they have come to know what they believe to be true about their world. I believe by facilitating this, helps students see boundaries, whether personal or social, as constructed and will give them the opportunity to challenge and move beyond them. It is this movement against and beyond boundaries that both empowers and transforms the learners I work with.
