About Gurshan

I am currently a full time teacher with the Toronto District School Board. I have been teaching primary students for over 10+ years (10,000 hours) and have voracious passion for reading.

Teaching has always been a passion of mine. Ensuring students remained engaged is the easy part. Learning how to design a program that provides students with the foundational skills to learn-to-read took a decade of teaching and tinkering.

With over 10,000 teaching hours, I understand what students need to learn and how to keep them engaged. The program is focused on primary students because I believe it’s easier to build a long-term foundation instead of fixing bad habits.

About the lesson

Our systematic program ensures students receive a comprehensive and thorough understanding of the alphabet. Students understand how letters work together; why vowels are the foundation of all languages. They learn the science of reading.

Building relationships with students is important because that allows us to create customized lessons and supplementary materials that are tailored to your child’s interests and strengths. A relationship based on warmth and trust increases engagement and ensures your child is learning to read.

Once your child acquires a thorough understanding of how letters work together to create words, they are then ready for that crucial next step: expanding their toolkit of comprehension strategies.

This is a 12 week program designed to help learn and improve your child's foundation in reading, writing and understanding.
