About Oscar

I’m Oscar, an award-winning pianist and composer based in Los Angeles. I studied Music Composition and Screen Scoring at New York University and Columbia College Chicago, and I’ve been playing piano for over 20 years. My work has been featured on Disney+, PBS, and at major film and music festivals across the country. I am a working pianist and composer for film, concert, documentaries, and dance projects, and I bring this real-world experience into every lesson. Whether you’re starting piano, refining your technique, or developing your own compositions, I create lessons tailored to your goals, strengths, and artistic voice. You’ll gain practical skills, creative guidance, and a supportive environment to grow as both a musician and an artist.

About the lesson

I work with students of all levels, whether you’re starting piano for the first time, building your technique, or preparing for auditions or music programs. Every lesson is tailored to your goals and your pace.

In piano lessons, we focus on technique, posture, finger strength, scales, and sight-reading, while also exploring musicality and expression. I like to give students room to improvise and interpret music in their own way, so playing feels alive, not just mechanical.

In composition lessons, I listen closely and tailor each session to your interests and style. I share references and creative exercises to help you find your own musical voice.
What sets my teaching apart is connection. I take time to understand where you are, what you want, and how to help you grow not just as a musician, but as an artist.
