About Catherine
My name is Catherine Liu, and I grew up in Canada, with a standard Canadian accent. I am currently in my final year of Psychology at Brock University. I started tutoring English online during the pandemic, and over 3 years later, I continue to love what I do. I have tutored on Preply, as well as I work with a company called Spicus, a company based in South Korea which specializes in improving English to adults (beginner, intermediate, advanced, and business). I have tutored students from all different countries, such as China, Canada, Brazil, and Korea through a website called Preply. I also have tutoring experience with Statistics (in particular the course PSYC 2F23), as I am a tutor at my University.

Each lesson is tailored to each student. I use my own lessons with pictures, grammar, and vocabulary for each different subject (e.g. food, transportation, buildings, classroom words, etc.).
The first lesson will be an introductory, going over some of the basics of the English language, as well as I will be gaging the student's level of English.
Before lessons, I will always ask before a lesson what kind of vocabulary or subjects the student would like to learn. Future lessons will start with a few minutes of review, with practice saying words, using them in sentences, and potentially quizzes too. Then, the rest of the lesson is going over premade lesson plans, where I talk about new vocabulary, grammar, and even tips and tricks on how to succeed in writing, speaking, and understanding English. These lessons are for anyone interested in learning English, from beginner to advanced, and from all ages. I also know some Mandarin and French, and in the past I have relied on these languages in case students do not know what certain things mean in English.
