About Nina

Hi, my name is Nina and I am a final year undergraduate student reading BA Italian and Linguistics at the University of Oxford. I am incredibly passionate about language learning having studied French, German, and Latin at school and now studying Italian at university level so I am well versed on how to tackle learning a language from scratch. I was born and raised in Japan for the first few years of my life and so I speak the language fluently, however I attended the Japanese Saturday School in London for 6 years (小6) and have also achieved A*s in both the GCSE and A-Level Japanese exams. Whether you’re interested in learning Japanese to a basic conversational level or in preparation for an exam (up to the JLPT N2), I’d love to use a combination of textbooks and my own knowledge to provide an authentic and effective way to approach language learning. I provide a personalised approach to language learning, especially if working towards a certain exam. Every student is different and I like to ensure that my help is targeted towards improving students' weaknesses.

About the lesson

It’s often difficult to find native speakers of Japanese when looking to improve upon your oral skills. Depending on whether you’re working towards a JLPT exam or GCSE/A-Level, I’ll help you work through both the grammar and vocabulary that you’re most likely to come across in the exam. As a native speaker, I will also be able to help with the proper pronunciation of words, as well as help build your conversational skills to build oral fluency - something that many Japanese students are unable to get access to! I like to focus on improving upon my students’ speech proficiency by practising listening and speaking as well as reading.
