About Tommo

I tailor my tutoring style to suit the student and subject, though my starting point is always questions, prompts and guiding steers.

Lessons with older students will often follow the format of an Oxford tutorial, beginning from a discussion of a topic or source material (whether the student's essay or a set text) and then moving into application of that knowledge through note-making, essay planning or interrogation of another text.

As well as previously teaching full-time at Westminster School (with continued ad hoc employment), I have tutored privately for over four years. I've received consistently excellent feedback, and my students have almost always improved their marks by 1-3 grade boundaries. (Where their grade hasn't substantially improved, they have nevertheless grown in confidence, and improved their essay writing and critical thought).

I hold an MPhil Theology from Oxford, and work as a freelance dramaturg and theatre director.
