About Sacha

While as an 18-year-old student I naturally don't have much direct teaching experience, I am a qualified ski instructor (CSIA Level 1) and have volunteered at a primary school teaching young children maths. I've achieved 4 A*s at A Level (in Maths, French, Russian and History) together with 11 9s at GCSE. I'm about to start on my first year at St Edmund Hall, Oxford, studying Russian and Linguistics. I believe that tutoring is all about instilling a love of learning and an appreciation for the subject. While my own knowledge may be more limited than some, my professionalism, work ethic and engagement with the subject mean I strive to give you the best experience possible and make a meaningful difference to your academic life.

About the lesson

Привет! I think that Russian language and culture is hugely underrepresented among young people. As someone who took it up in Year 10 and is now studying it at Oxford, I'm looking to pass on my love of all things Russia to the next generation. I'd be looking to teach both beginners who would like to take up the subject from scratch and those of an intermediate level who would like to improve. As somebody who has been through the application process, I also believe my input would be uniquely valuable on preparation for the MLAT (on which I scored 94%) and Oxford interviews. I am flexible with my methods and timings; as a student set to start at the University of Oxford in October, it would probably be easier to focus on online lessons, but I could also do in-person lessons in either the London or Oxford areas where it would be helpful. I largely write or provide my own materials for the lessons, but can also help with your own materials and adapt to whichever methods of teaching would best help you. Terence Wade's "A comprehensive Russian grammar" is a particular favourite... Looking forward to our first trial lesson!
