About Joseph
Hi! My name's Joe. I'm an English student at Keble College Oxford and I live in Sheffield.
I'm preparing for the second year of my degree having sat university exams in June. I have recent experience of A-Level exams and Oxbridge entrance exams, which I hold as very useful in advising younger students academically. I have a strong passion for my subject and have remained involved in competitions for essays, short-fiction and poetry alongside my academic work at university.
I don't have professional experience as a tutor, but I enjoy helping others and I'm quick to adapt to any environment. I have been praised by my tutors for my clarity of explanation, especially my verbal expression, and I have confidence that I can guide students through complex situations by using simple terms.
I gain a satisfaction from being able to communicate what I know with others, but I also thrive off learning.I believe that meaningful discussions about English happen when both parties are ready to learn, and as a tutor I hope to learn from my students whilst teaching them. When a tutor learns from their student, they are naturally placed in a better position to reach out to them as an individual.
I am a patient person. I believe that patience is necessary to the development of any skill, and I understand that some students learn at a different pace than others. My aim is to teach at a speed that the individual student is comfortable with.
I hope that tutoring proves to be as fruitful for me as it will prove to be for my students. I look forward to the opportunity.
