About REMY

I am a French native speaker from Paris with a Master's degree in Environmental Science from Cergy-Paris University and a Bachelor's in Applied Geophysics from Paris Diderot University. My academic background is technical and rigorous, which means I am precise with language and comfortable explaining complex concepts clearly.

For the past four years, I worked as a sustainability consultant, managing up to ten client mandates simultaneously across France and internationally. A core part of that role was communicating clearly with non-specialist audiences — translating technical requirements into plain, actionable language. That skill transfers directly into teaching.

I am fully bilingual in French and English (C1 level), which means I genuinely understand the challenges anglophones face when learning French. I live and work in Toronto, I am responsive, reliable, and I take my students' goals seriously.

About the lesson

My lessons are built around your goal, not a generic program. Before we start, we take 10-15 minutes to identify what you actually need — whether that's passing the federal government language exam, feeling more confident in conversations, improving your written French, or preparing for a trip to France.

A typical lesson combines oral practice, targeted vocabulary or grammar points based on what came up during the session, and real-life situations you are likely to encounter. I correct mistakes in context rather than stopping you mid-sentence — the goal is fluency, not perfection.

I teach all levels, from complete beginners to advanced speakers who want to refine their accent or written expression. Lessons are conducted in French as much as possible, with English explanations when needed — especially useful for anglophones who struggle with concepts that have no direct equivalent in English.

What sets me apart: I learned English as an adult and live between both languages every day in Toronto. I know exactly where anglophones get stuck in French, and I explain things in a way that actually makes sense to an English-speaking brain.
