About Tayla
I am a Physics student with over three years of tutoring experience. I'm absolutely in love with my subject, and value the pursuit of education over most things in life. I took a break from this profession a few months ago, and have been missing it ever since! I put my all into planning sessions, determined for them to be both engaging and thorough. I approach lessons with patience and precision, being genuinely passionate about helping students to learn best. I always aim to inspire comparable passion in the subjects that I teach.

Over years of tutoring, it becomes increasingly apparent how intricate the differences in learning-style can be between students. When conducting lessons, I always begin with a (free) icebreaker/assessment lesson to gauge the needs of the tutee. Not only is this important to assess their level, but also to build a rapport with the student, and gain a better understand their attitude/approach towards learning. Education is incredibly important to me, and so I pride myself on adjusting my tutoring techniques to optimise the benefit to the student. My golden rule is that there are never any silly questions; I always want my tutees to feel the freedom to ask anything as many times as needed so they can gain a meaningful understanding of the subject.
My lessons are typically an hour long, though I'm happy to conduct sessions of different lengths. I have experience tutoring English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at GCSE level and below. Beyond this, I specialise in Maths and Physics. I also have experience tutoring students with special educational needs. Lesson layouts vary depending on the tutee - I am more than happy to discuss this in detail in advance of sessions. Fundamentally, consolidation is key; regardless of the student, my lessons always contain a scattering of discussions/activities that are designed to consolidate what the student has learned, testing their understanding, and making sure they are actually learning, rather than just receiving a stream of information.
In terms of technicalities, I have additional tools that specifically help to overcome the obstacles of online teaching (e.g. a tablet that lets me annotate directly onto the screen).
