I first got to know Tim when we were teaching together at a school in Japan in 2006. The main business of the school was to prepare young people for study at universities overseas, which involved training them in all aspects of English. Tim was popular with the students, and was able to develop a good rapport with those of different abilities and ages. He was never too busy to spend time with students and give them advice on an educational and pastoral basis. Tim was also popular with his colleagues, and was always willing to discuss and share teaching ideas. In addition, he had a reputation for being meticulous in his planning and delivering excellent lessons.
On returning to the UK, we have continued to be good friends, and he has been a source of support not only to myself but also to my children who like to get his opinion on different matters.
