About Karen
Patient & Friendly School Tutor
Hi, I’m Karen.
I’m 33 years old, originally from Cork, Ireland. I moved to England 12 years ago to train as a teacher, and since then, I’ve been dedicated to primary education, particularly in Key Stage 2 (Year 5 and Year 6). Over the past 11 years, I’ve gained a wealth of experience, especially in preparing children for their SATS and ensuring they are fully equipped to transition into Key Stage 3.
I have tutored children both in their homes on a 1:1 basis and in group settings after school, so I’m well-versed in adapting my teaching to different learning environments. I understand how important it is for each child to receive personalised attention, whether in a small group or individually, to maximise their progress. On going assessment comes naturally to me and I will be sure to keep you informed of the progress your child is making.
Teaching is more than just a job to me—it’s a vocation I’m truly passionate about. I always strive to make my lessons as engaging as possible, and I love to use rhymes, songs, and videos to bring learning to life. I believe that using these creative techniques helps students retain information better and makes the learning process much more enjoyable. When students are actively involved and having fun, they absorb new concepts more effectively.

Every few weeks, I will give you a detailed summary of what has been covered and areas to continue working on at home if possible.
