About Alina
I am a piano tutor with 3 years of experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Musicology, focusing on Piano History. My lessons centre on jazz improvisation, comping techniques, and building a rich harmonic vocabulary. I guide students in ear training for complex chords, rhythmic precision, and transcription exercises.
I have taught Early Intermediate to Advanced Intermediate students, as well as professional jazz musicians. My approach balances theory, technical skill, and creative expression. We work on spontaneous improvisation while developing strong harmonic understanding.
Through transcription, students internalise jazz phrasing and stylistic nuances. I emphasise rhythm, swing, and expressive freedom in every lesson. My teaching approach is all about helping students play pop piano confidently and creatively. Lessons cover chord voicings for popular songs, playing by ear, arranging contemporary pieces, and modern piano techniques. I focus on practical application, so you can play your favourite songs from the start.
I work with hobbyist adults and pop players, helping them develop skill and confidence at the keyboard. We explore rhythmic patterns, chord progressions, and melodic lines common in pop music. Playing by ear and transcription exercises allow students to recognise and recreate songs independently.
Arranging pieces is a core part of learning, helping students make songs their own. Lessons are interactive, hands-on, and fun. Students build the skills to play solo or accompany others in contemporary arrangements.
I emphasise creativity, experimentation, and musical expression. Each lesson is personalised to your goals and favourite songs. Together, we unlock the secrets of pop piano and make music enjoyable and rewarding.
