About Priya

I am a fourth-year medical student at the University of Bristol, and have also recently completed a degree in Management at Imperial College Business School., achieving First Class Honours.

I achieved top grades of 2A*s and 2As at A-Level and received 12A*s (Grade 9s and 8s) at GCSE.

I have a number of years' worth of experience teaching younger students, e.g. I worked in a tutoring centre for over four years during secondary school and I volunteered to mentor GCSE Chemistry and Maths students whilst completing my A-Levels. I have also tutored family friends on a one-to-one basis. During lockdown I offered to help A-Level Maths students to fill any gaps in their learning, as I know how much of an impact major disruptions can have. Since then, I have also acted as a mentor at a well-established summer school, supporting aspiring medical students with their applications.

About the lesson

My experience of tutoring so far has taught me that each student is different, and so I realise the importance of tailoring my lessons to the student's needs. By working together with the student, we can identify areas of weakness and build on these through clear and concise explanations. I provide some practice questions to help consolidate their learning. I also like to incorporate methods such as active recall and spaced repetition, as these have proven to be effective in my own learning.

As a student, I know full well how demoralising a lack of empathy and patience can be, so as a tutor I am calm, encouraging and passionate about the subjects I teach.
